Practical advice you can apply this week — no special tools required.
Before your main crop goes in, sow fast-growing legumes like cowpeas. They’ll fix nitrogen, suppress weeds and add organic matter when you dig them in.
Bare soil loses moisture and nutrients fast. Keep it covered with mulch, a cover crop or living plants — always. The difference in soil quality after one season is remarkable.
Bees are calm when undisturbed. Position your hives so the entrance faces away from paths, doors or livestock pens — you’ll have fewer stings and happier colonies.
Frequent shallow watering creates weak roots. Water deeply once or twice a week instead — roots grow down, plants become drought-hardy, and you’ll use less water overall.
Fruits and vegetables picked early hold more moisture, last longer and taste better. Aim for harvest before 9 AM whenever possible.
Write down what you plant, when you plant it, what you spend and what you earn. Simple records turn farming from guesswork into a real business.
We attend regional agriculture fairs and exhibitions throughout the year. Come say hello, ask questions and see our work in person.
Our exhibitions showcase live demonstrations, sample products and enrolment information. Come meet the team, see what our graduates are producing and learn how to join.
